Coaster Creator VR
This is a very early playtest. Expect bugs, missing features, and things changing a lot between versions.
Feedback is very welcome.

alpha_6.0.0 (latest)
Quest 2 / 3 / 3S: now on the Meta Horizon Store as an alpha. It installs and updates through the store
like any other game, so there's nothing to sideload. To join the alpha, ask for an invite on Discord
(@crazy.chicken).
If you sideloaded an earlier version, uninstall it first if the store version won't install over it.
We've stopped making new Windows builds — Quest is the only platform getting new versions now. The last
Windows build, alpha_5.0.0, is still downloadable under "Older versions" below.
Versions are numbered alpha_major.feature.fix. See the full
changelog for every version.
New in alpha_6.0.0
- Scenery: place over 300 trees, plants, rocks, buildings and props from three free art packs. Move,
turn, resize and recolor each one.
- Short steel supports no longer get braces between them.
- The frame rate readout now grows and shrinks with you.
How to play
Controllers only for now (no hand tracking). Move and turn with the thumbsticks.
Building track
- Squeeze grip on an arrow to move and rotate it. The track follows the arrows, including banking.
- The + and - floating past the end of the track add or remove a piece. Touch them, grab them, or point and pull the trigger.
- Bring the end of the track near the station and a link icon appears. Press it to close the loop (press again to open it).
- Grab the station to move or turn it. It always stays level.
- Select the station (point at its track and pull the trigger) to set its entry and exit speeds and number of cars.
Changing your height
- Press X on the left controller to bring up the height pole. Point at it and pull the trigger to set your
height, then press X again to become that height.
- Above your real height you float, so you can reach high track. Below it you shrink, all the way down to life
size compared to the coaster, where you can walk on the station, the track and the supports.
- The "Default size" and "1:1 scale" buttons at eye level jump straight to those sizes.
Track types
- Point at a piece of track and pull the trigger to select it. Trigger it again, or at empty space, to deselect.
- Look at your right wrist for the track types: plain track, chain lift, brakes, friction wheels, and launch.
Touch one with your left controller.
- With a piece selected, that changes its type. With nothing selected, it picks the type of the next piece you add.
- Pieces with settings show sliders on your left wrist. Touch a slider with your right controller, hold grip, and drag.
- Some types limit how the track can bend: lifts and launches only go straight up or down,
brakes can't pitch, bank, or turn more than 45°, and friction wheels stay within 10°.
Chain lifts can't be steeper than 85°. These limits can be switched off in Settings > Advanced.
Coaster types
- The row of icons beside the station's start button switches the whole coaster between types.
- Wooden coasters can't go upside down, bank or slope more than 85°, or have launches. If your track
doesn't fit, a message explains why and the problem piece is selected.
- Supports are built for you. They hide under track you're dragging and come back when you let go.
- Each coaster type has its own train.
Testing
- Press the floating play button by the station (touch, grab, or point and pull the trigger) to send the train.
Press it again to stop and reset.
- Editing tools hide while the train is running.
- Press the blue RIDE button, or walk into a car at life size, to ride in first person. Any controller button
gets you off.
- Look at your left wrist during a run for live ride stats, and afterwards for the last lap's averages and peaks.
Terrain
- Press B on the right controller to switch to terrain editing. Press it again for scenery, and once more to go
back to the coaster.
- Point the right controller at the ground and hold the trigger to use the tool picked on your left wrist. The ring
on the ground shows the brush.
- Touch a tool, a ground type or a button on your left wrist with your right controller. Touch a slider and slide
along it to change the brush size or strength.
- Undo takes back the last stroke. Reset all flattens everything back to grass (press it twice).
Scenery
- In scenery editing, your left wrist shows everything you can place. Touch a pack or style to filter, and drag
up or down across the pictures (or use the arrows) to scroll. Hold your right controller just in front of a
picture to see its name and author.
- Touch a picture to put that piece in front of you. Squeeze grip on it to move and turn it.
- Point at a piece and pull the trigger to select it. Your left wrist then shows its color and size, and Delete
(press it twice) and Done. Trigger at empty space to deselect.
Pause menu
- Press Y on the left controller to pause. Press it again, or Resume, to carry on.
- Save names your coaster with the keyboard; Load picks a saved one.
- Tutorial replays the walkthrough of every control.
- Settings has comfort vignettes, turning, music and sound effects volume, track limits and track smoothing.
- Credits lists who made the game and its music.
- Debug can load ready-made test coasters and show your frame rate.
Planned features
- More coaster types (flying, hybrid, water)
- Dive coasters, as add-on DLC after release
- Sounds for chain lifts, friction wheels and the station
- Hand tracking, in an update after release
Older versions
Older Quest builds for sideloading. They don't get updates; the store alpha always has the newest version.
